🇬🇧 The 5-day FEPSAC 2026 (European Federation of Sport Psychology) Conference came to an end yesterday.
It was a great experience to present both my PhD research and my master’s thesis, and to be together with many successful colleagues in the Young Researcher Award poster category. 📚🤓

🎓 I had the pleasure of giving a talk on "Becoming a Sport Psychologist" for more than 300 psychology students and graduates at the invitation of the Turkish Psychological Association.
The growing interest in sport psychology across Türkiye is inspiring to see and gives me great hope for the future of our field.
Many thanks to the Turkish Psychological Association, its Student Unit volunteers, and everyone who joined the session. 🙏 I hope we will have many more opportunities to learn, discuss, and advance sport psychology together.

Over the past five days, I had the opportunity to attend the FEPSAC 2026 Conference. Although I have been a FEPSAC member for some time, this was my first time attending the conference, and it was inspiring to experience the size and strength of this international community.
During the conference, I presented our research on sport participation and mental health in children from the YEAH! Youth hEAlth from a Holistic perspective project in the Young Researcher Award poster category. It was a pleasure to represent our research team, including my supervisors, Boris Cheval and Alexis Le Faucheur, and my colleague Huiyun DING.
I also had the opportunity to present my master’s thesis, supervised by Nadja Walter. Seeing Nadja again, as well as my former colleagues from Leipzig after graduating, made this conference even more special.
It was a week full of inspiring research, meaningful discussions, and new connections. I am already looking forward to the next FEPSAC Conference in 2028.📚

Supporting players in their mental preparation, development, and well-being in a high-performance environment was genuinely rewarding.
Grateful to work alongside such a committed group of players and staff, and thankful to the Turkish Football Federation for their trust and the opportunity.

On 3–4 February, researchers from across Europe met in Barcelona for the General Assembly of the YEAH! Project. It was inspiring to reflect on how much scientific and collaborative progress we have achieved in just one year, as well as on the shared motivation to continue moving forward together.
I am proud to contribute to this impactful project through sport psychology research.
Many thanks to Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) for hosting us, and to everyone involved in making this project such a success.
Looking forward to the next steps and continued collaboration.

A new sport psychology experience!🧠⚽️
I am pleased to share that I have been appointed by the Turkish Football Federation as the Sport Psychologist for the U19 Men’s National Team for the European Championship Qualifying Matches.
The camp took place in Antalya, Türkiye, between 8 and 19 November and included three international fixtures. Alongside the sporting achievements, it was a great source of happiness to see the growing interest in sport psychology in Türkiye and to be able to take on responsibility even while pursuing my academic career.
As a PhD student and early-career sport psychologist, taking part in such an elite-level competition was a deeply rewarding experience. I will now be heading back to France to focus on my studies and look forward to future applied experiences.
Finally, I would like to thank Metin Aksu for his high efforts in raising awareness of sport psychology within the football community in Türkiye, which continues to create meaningful opportunities for me and many other sport psychologists.

Spor psikolojisi, sporcuların zihinsel süreçlerini ve psikolojik iyi oluşlarını inceleyen, performans gelişimini destekleyen bir alandır. Bu disiplin, yalnızca profesyonel sporcular için değil; amatör sporcular, antrenörler ve hatta düzenli egzersiz yapan bireyler için de önem taşır.
Spor psikolojisi kapsamında, imgeleme, performans profili oluşturma, öz konuşma ve rutin geliştirme gibi teknikler kullanılmaktadır. Bu yöntemlere ek olarak, stres ve kaygı yönetimi, odaklanma becerileri, doğru hedef belirleme, motivasyon gelişimi ve sakatlık süreçlerinde sağlanan psikolojik destek ile sporcuların mental dayanıklılıklarının geliştirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır.

🔬 I began my PhD journey in February 2025, investigating the connection between sport participation and mental health, particularly in children and adolescents. While I will soon start sharing updates from the research side, today I would like to highlight another essential aspect of sport psychology: the applied practice.
As a young sport psychologist primarily focused on research, I have recently been putting effort into developing myself according to the scientist-practitioner model and preparing to offer individual sessions for athletes.
💡 In this process, I explored various approaches to make these sessions more effective and concluded that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) offers one of the best frameworks for sport psychology, particularly through its clear structure and emphasis on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
💡 Moreover, I have found that an understanding of personality plays a central role in designing tailored interventions and building effective, meaningful communication with athletes.
To deepen my knowledge in these two areas, I enrolled in psychologist training programs and recently completed:
• 90 hours of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy psychologist training🎓
• 32 hours of Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Test psychologist training🎓
Both certified by the Turkish Psychological Association.
Combining research and applied practice requires both flexibility and continuous learning. I look forward to expanding my expertise and supporting athletes in reaching their full potential.
I will keep you all updated on how my PhD evolves and on my upcoming applied experiences. ☀️
